The Birth of Unique Selling Proposition (USP)

July 16th, 2008 |  Published in Copywriting by Publix

Before a copywriter can sell a product or service, he must first sit down and think about the Unique Selling Proposition (USP). Like the name implies, a USP statement shouts out special qualities attached to your product or service.

This sentence must appeal to consumers who are primarily made up of your target audience, and ideally fulfill their needs and wants. A USP must also sound very convincing and solid, plus ideally it must also reflect the uniqueness of your product that is not present in your competitor’s offerings.

Do remember to avoid a "me too" mindset when you develop your USP!
